View Full Version : Fuel filler neck

I just took my first long >7,000 mile trip with my new 3500 Duramax/Allison pulling our 37' travel trailer.

With the length of this rig we have to use truck stocks and the "Semi" area. The large necks so completely fill the filler neck that back pressure immediately shuts of the nozzle.

With great sensitivity I have to "milk" in the fuel and refueling can often take 10-12 minutes with a rather empty tank.

Fix?

I recently installed one of the transfer flow filler necks and I must say the job was pretty easy and certainly makes filling up less of a chore. You can use the big rig pumps at full capactity. I can fill my tank in less than 1.5 minutes, usually less than one minute. Woohoo!!

DalDMax,
Thank you so much. Ordered. I really appreciate. Help like yours is exactly why I joined this site.

I ordered one about 4 weeks ago and installed it about a week ago, took about 30 minutes to install (while trying to watch the kids)only filled up once so far, but I went right to the truck stop to try it out. The only problem I had was I let it shut off by itself and it back washed out of the filler. The only thing I will do next time is slow the pump down when I know it is nearing full, otherwise it worked great.!

Guys,
I know I already posted a "thank you." But there is more. I sent a note to Jim who suggested I post the full story.

I'm in a wheelchair and can stand with crutches, so standing for a long time is really horrible milking in fuel. This just makes the help I got from the members who responded just wonderful. If you can think of a way to tell them this, I'd appreciate it. I'm indebted to them.

THANKS EVER SO MUCH.

I called and talked to them today about the fast fill, and when I understood the pieces....I agree. WAY to much.

Their prices went up dramatically over the last few weeks. I bought one about 4 weeks ago and it was only $80.

It comes with 2 welded tubes, one that replaces the filler, which is attached to the truck and another that attaches to the stock hose near the tank. (The stock hose gets cut and reused) The only other piece is a smaller hose that they supply as the vent tube.

Probably worth about $65 all said and done, I did not feel bad paying $80, but at $126 I don't know if I would have done it. It is nice to know that I can pull up to any pump though and I don

You could do this if you just want the pump nozzle to fit .... If you could mess around and create a better vent ,you might just be able to fuel faster, without wetting thy shoes ..... :(

I had been thinking about this mod since last Fall, and at that time I thought the $85 wasn't wirth it. After hearing of this price increase, I thought I'd push the issue a little, so I called today to order one. After he had all my ordering info, (except the credit card #), I asked how much. When he told me $126, I said I wouldn't pay that much. I asked if he could do better. After a minute or two of silence he told me he could give it to me for wholesale price of $101. Now the $85 doesn't look so bad.
I figured if I didn't order it now, I probably never would, so I ordered one. It will be manufactured soon, and shipped 06/23/03.
The faster fills will be nice, and I shouldn't have to be frustrated if the large nozzle is my only choice.

You'll love it. I just filled up again the other day and it took me about 90 seconds. I was laughing because there was an older Ford sitting next to me when I pulled in and he was still sitting there when I left, he was using the "Auto Diesel" pump.
