I have the oportunity of changing my 14K Reese hitch for a side-to-side 15K model. What are the pros and cons of the two types.

You'll probably get more definitive answers here http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm

I've had both. The side to side will get you out of jams. Jams caused by the truck rear tire dropping into an inconvenient pothole where you unhitch or hitch. Works great when you intend to park in not so level spots. Marginally more difficult to line up for hook up, especially if the plate is tilted. I hold mine level with a piece of foam which I can easily pull out after hookup.

Not that much difference. I just got rid of my reese 5th wheel and rails. I had a B&W gooseneck installed and Rhinoliner.I put a gooseneck adapter on our 37 ft. 5th wheel camper. Now I tow it like a goosenneck. It is much better. Better to hitch & tow and now we have our bed back. And no more heavy 5th wheel to take in and out when I want to haul something or pull our gooseneck horse trailers. I am only sorry that we waited this long to do it. What a difference it makes. We also changed to a Jordan brake controller, it is by far the best one I have ever used. And we tried every type and brand of controller before. This one is smooth and powerful. Good Luck with your whatever hitch you use and drive safe.
