Does anyone have ideas or tricks on how to remove the AC lines without breaking them on the evaporator? I already did the condenser, that is broke the fitting off and stripped the other, so now I have a new one! Any tricks to removing them? I am switching to r-134a and want to replace the seals, orfice tube, and accumulator.

Good Day!

I think I'll have some luck with doing mine, but I doubt you'll want to wait as long as me. I've got both behind-the-grill condenser connections wrapped with rags, which I then soaked with penetrating oil. I can easily shoot more penetrating oil on them through the grill. Only thing is, I won't even be trying these for at least a couple weeks from when I did this - almost no one has the luxury of waiting this long.

Good Luck & Blessings!

Check out this article at ACkits.com. http://www.ackits.com/pdf/corroded.pdf. Seems to be a good idea.

I did not try this, because I already wrecked the condensor. Got the fittings off the accumulator by soaking with PB Blaster for a week, not sure if that was the reason or not but they came off easy.

HH,
The web address you posted does not bring you to any article about corrosion, can you come up with a new address.

Sometimes with some heat and then a wax candle applied to the fitting to wick into the threads can work. Patience is the key!

Try this link http://www.ackits.com/pdf/corroded.pdf

Not sure what the differance is but it appears to work now. ???

If that does not work go here and follow the link. http://www.autoacforum.com/messageview.cfm?catid=20&threadid=12516

The link worked now, Thanks
It seems to be a good idea
What I have been trying to do with the fleet of suburbans with rear air that I work on, using a air hammer with a flat face tip and a block of metal, I sandwich the fitting and try to massage the nut to break up the corrosion.
I have been lucky a few times.
