I am having problems with the transmission shifter cable. It appears to have movement inside the boot just before it attaches to the transmission. Now it won't go into park at all, only reverse when you put the lever into the park position. Of course that is dangerous.
After crawling under the truck, I noticed a bulge in the boot and was able to straighten the cable and get into park manually. But it went back to it's old ways on the next attempt with the shift lever.
Any options except to replace the cable? Is the cable supposed to have movement or flexibility between the attach point to the transmission and the shift lever at its end point?
