I wandered around in "search" for a while and am more confused. I have a 3500 4x4. Is the transfer case fluid rquired to be changed at 50k? Do I use Dexron III? How much?
If your 3500 does not have the auto 4x4 button on the dash, then it's Dextron III and if I recall around 2 quarts.
Buttons or not, I think it's still Dexron-III on the HD's (2500/3500). My 2500HD 4WD has the push buttons and there is a label near the fill plug on the transfer case that says to use Dexron-III. I have some Mobil-1 ATF on the shelf waiting to go in... (after my lift pump is installed). smile.gif
Jbplock,
I believe you are correct. I was 99% sure that the Duramax equipped HD's didn't come with the autotrack transfer case but that remaining 1% was a question as to whether the gasser HD's did or not. I know that the button that says auto 4x4 only comes with the autotrack transfer case and it makes it easy for most to figure out quickly.

I dont think ANY HD trucks have "auto track" and I did my t case at 10K and It should have been done at 2K due to a lot of fine metal in the oil!!!!! I filled mine with about 3qts? of allison syn transdine oil!!!!!!! just change it ASAP!!!! same holds true for the rear end!!!! just do it!!!!
