I have noticed a clunk in the drivetrain recently, seems to be getting worse. It sounds like U-joints are going out, but they seem fine. I have an '02 crew-cab, ZF/6 tranny, 2 piece drive shaft, and a Quad135 box. The noise is especially noticeable when shifting into 6th.
There seems to be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of play in the rear-end, is this normal? I am concerned the rear-end is coming apart, possibly the thrust bearing causing excessive play in the rear which will eventually lead to breakage if in fact it is a problem.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? How much play should there be in the rear-end?
Thanks,
Tim
