thought i might shed a little light on this subject. my drl's just quit working, after checking my circuit's i finally replaced the
drl diode located under the dash on the right
hand side of the steering column. i just bent the
tabs back on the bracket and the diode slipped
out after bending the bracket so it would miss
the dash board brace. the new one "GM part #
10063049 diode asm" comes with a new bracket,
i just took the new one off the bracket and put
it on my old bracket. this diode recieves voltage
from the 20amp fuse in the fuse panel, when the
drl relay is energized current will flow from
ground through LH high beam and RH low beam through the closed relay contacts through the
diode to B+ battery voltage. maybe someone with
more electrical knowledge than i can explain why this diode went bad. at 40.00 bucks i would like
to know
