pyrometer install

Installing new VDO pyrometer in my truck. Question on the wire harness from the probe to the gauge. Length is about 4 feet longer than required for my truck. Is it ok to cut off the 4 feet or is it calibrated for that length of cable only?

Most pyros are calibrated to the sender. Just wrap up the excess and tie it under the dash.
