I have replaced my windshield wiper switch but my wipers still only work some times, what could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Be more specific on the application. Not just 'My Truck'.

Probably just the circuit board...

Probably need the circuit board. Pretty common problem. There is usually one on eBay.

Turn the switch on and if the wipers do not work try Dinamic Service. Take a screwdriver and hit the wiper motor once or twice. If the wipers respond the board is most likely bad. Most years of GM products have been recalled for this problem. You can check your "stealer" for the recall dates, or just open up the back of the motor and you will most likely see on the lower bottom edge of the pc board a wire trace that is noticable thinner than the rest of the wire traces on the board. This thin trace tends to open. Try slodering a wire across this thin trace and recheck the wipers.
I think this was a designed failure to sell parts, since there is no reason for that trace to be thinner than the rest, that just got ahead of predictions and forced the recall.

Before you buy anything, use a soldering iron to reflow the 6 terminals that come from the truck's wiring harness to the circhit board. This is a very common cause of failure. Even if they look good, resolder them anyway. If I remember correctly, you should just have to remove the wiper motor cover, and you can leave the circuit board in place to resolder it. Unplug the connector before soldering.

With intermittant operating wipers, both of my trucks '93 and '94, just cleaning up the excess grease inside and making sure I had a good ground was all it took. They're still working like new years later.
