NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - General Motors Corp. is recalling 4 million pickup trucks to fix a problem with tailgate support cables that may corrode and fracture.

It's about time!!! I have already had one break and the second one is starting to swell inside the casing. The notice says it may take till the 3rd quarter to get enough stock of the new stainless cables so we may have a long wait yet!!! :D :D :D
I read the recall notice, but I did`nt see where they said they were going to replace them with stainless steel. They may just give us all some more of the same thing. Surely not.

The recall covers certain 2000-2004 model year Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras, as well as some 2002-04 Chevrolet Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT. GM says it will replace the existing galvanized, braided steel support cables with stainless steel support cables.As per article............JB.

Too bad they won't just give us money instead. Then we could buy what ever we want.
