Please help with a question. I am going to change the Allison spin on filter tonight. How much fluid can I expect to loose? Will it be just the filter contents and a little or will it be a gush of fluid? A guy at work said to have a drain pan ready. Now I'm not sure.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have the drain pan, but you'll only get about a pint if that much. the fluid will be dripping out while you have the old one off, but no way a gusher. Don't forget to swap the little magnet from the old filter to the new one. After changing mine I couldn't see any difference on the dip stick so didn't even add fluid when done. It's very simple and will only take a few minutes.

Excellent. Thanks for the quick response and the reassurance.

If you are worried about the fluid loss, do as I did and fill up the new filter with trans fluid before screwing the filter back on. The little you will lose in the drip when the filter is off won't amount enough to worry about, but as stated above don't forget to switch the magnet to the new filter.
