HIguys, got another annoying little problem with the truck. I've seen a few posts about this so I'd like to see how many miles that you had on your truck when your carrier bearing started to fail. At first I thought it was the rear brake wear indicators, seeing how I already have 104,000 miles on the beast it seemed logical. So I go thru the process of puling the duals off and I still have over a 1/4" of pad left. Not bad! Looking back now I guess buying a full set new brake pads back with the truck only had 30,000 miles on her seems a little premature.

Does anyone know if the new carrier bearing has a Zerk to keep it lubed up? Or is it just one of those item you just chuck when it starts to squeal.

Thanks
David

The carrier bearing is a sealed unit. I know of a truck with more than 300,000 miles on it - with the original driveshaft carrier bearing.

If it is bad, it shouldn't last long before the failure is unmistakeable.
