I have been reading alot about replacing a prone to breaking harmonic balancer.
Now, where is the best place to get one?
How much are they?
What is needed to R&R them?
Also where to get a good gear drive timing set?
I am planning on doing some preventive maintainence and would like to get parts and do everything at once.
Thanks ...
I did find this info at a GM supplier I use...
#14022671 balancer list $142.95 cost $93.70

all you need is a harmonic balancer puller, you can buy them for $10-20, or Autozone will lend you one. If you don;t have an impact gun, you will probably need to lock the flexplate somehow so you can loosen the bolt without the engine turning over. to reinstall you should get a longer bolt (Anyone know the thread size offfhand ?) to pull the balancer into the crank snout, don't forget to buy a new front seal.

www.dieselservices.com (http://www.dieselservices.com) sells the gear drive. a melling timing chain with gears is only $56 from northernautoparts.com

hope this helps
