Avalanche Ride Vs. 2500HD

So I drove a friend's brand new Avalanche 2500 yesterday and was astounded at how much better the ride is, particularly on concrete freeways (which absolutely gives my 2500HD CC shortbed fits).

Has anyone looked at the rear suspension setup on the Avalaches? They're based on the 2500 platform, so presumably we could use whatever GM did to improve the ride. Cargo and towing capacities are similar, too. Heck, the Avalanche even has the same PYOs and tires that my truck has.

It's a suburban chassis w/coil springs.

Our 2500HD's are basically the old 3500 one ton's single rear wheel models when it comes to the suspension. The GM 2500 models (without the HD), are the old 3/4 ton suspension set up. You can't compare a 2500 regular to a 2500 HD. They are two entirely different animals!! Take a look at GVWR ratings of each and see the difference.

Strong Engine

Should have got the Long Bed --Its a lot smoother and the extra 1-1/2 is not that bad unless you insist on having it in a garage

I've ridden extensively in the long bed (friend has one) and it's got the same lousy ride on the local concrete freeways that my shortbed does.

Plus, it's even harder to turn and park in the city.

Ahhh, well, Bilsteins here I come.

The 2500 Avalanche is on a suburban chassis with a 130" wheelbase. That alone improves the ride on a concrete freeway. The 2500 Avalanches still run leaf springs, the 1500 Avalanche has the coil springs...those ride wonderful. The avalance also has more weight over the rear wheels than our trucks do. Get them to fix your Freeway! Mine flies down the Highway very nicely. Yes if there are large bumps you will know it. Certainly when I fly through Boston (Big Dig) I know I am driving a one ton but It's worth it to have the Duramax!

Not to change the subject but I feel for you guys that live in Arkansas. I came thru with the dually and a 30' enclosed car trailer. By far the roughest ride on concrete I've ever had. I don't even think the unpaved AK highway was ever as bad.
