I now have 23,000 miles on my truck and have had the dredded surge at stop twice lately. I seem to remember that a year or so ago there was some questions about a surge that is like getting rear ended at a stop. What, if anything, was the cause? I almost got out of my truck to see what happened until I remembered that this site had some threads about this. Any help?

idahobidcaller, you need to get your TCM and the PCM calibrated to the latest software that address's the 2-1 bump that your getting,my truck had the same problem and the update cured it all.

PP's right. My TCM was flashed today to the latest updates, and they certainly help out. The 1-2 and the 2-1 shift is much more positive now. Also, my small flair I had from third to fourth is gone. Much better operation overall!!

My 2001 LS 2500hd D/A does it too. Currently
working the problem with the dealership. There is a bulletin out that addresses this which
is different than the 2-1 shift issue. It's
#01-04-17-004 drive axles, rear-clunk,bump,or
squawk noise.
Conditon
Some customers may comment on a clunk, bump or squawk noise when the vehicle comes to a stop or
when accelerating from a complete stop.
Cause
A slip/stick condition between the transfer case
output shaft and the drive shaft slip yoke may
cause this condition.
Correction
Replace the rear drive shaft slip yoke with a new
nickle plated slip yoke etc......
I'm 100% convinced this is my problem.
Hope this helps. From a fellow freedom lover
happy 4th...
