Steel Wheels

Plain old steel wheels.....please help me!!! I am searching high and low for a set of 4 plain old steel wheels to fit my '02 2500HD so I can get a dedicated set of snow tires. I don't care if their rusty or whatever,I'll 'blast and paint them. Just so they're square and true. I've searched all the yards in the area, nothing.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm in the eastern Ontario area but travel alot so I'm open to anything.

Much as I hate to say it but others years and maybe another Brand may fit.

standarg 8 lug wheels should not be too hard to come by.

Check out Ebay. I have heard of people getting plain H2 wheels for under $300.

You need to be carefull because on the years with rear disc brakes GM changed the offset of the wheels to clear the calipers. I was my understanding that earlier wheels would hit the calipers. I got my wheels from Rickson Trucks and had no problem.

You should be able to use eight hole OEM Ford or Dodge wheels. The bolt pattern is the same. I can't speak for the possiblility of any offset conflicts.

I ran 8 hole '99 Dodge wheels on mine for awhile. Offset worked fine

I have a set of older FORD eight stud and they do work on the rear but they DO NOT fit the front because of the large disc brakes. My 1993 Chev rims DO fit the front and back just fine.

I have 4 OEM steel wheels off my 1 ton 6.5 TD, 8 lug pattern, on the truck only 6 months then went with forged aluminum. In the garage collecting dust. Let me know if you are interested. I'm in the Mpls St Paul area.

If you haven't purchased your snow tires yet, the Tire Rack usually has deals for tires and steel wheels. Some of the guys on the ImpalaSS forum buy their snow tires with the OEM steel wheels.

Well, thanks for all the input guys. I had a quick look on e-bay, as suggested. Low & behold, there was a set of OE aluminum 8 bolt wheels with tires (265's). I got them for $360US. Not a bad deal I guess, since the wheels alone are huge bucks. I don't have them yet, as they are coming from Utah (a bit too far for me to go). So now I'll have two sets of aluminum wheels. Oh well, suppose I just have to cope with it.

Let me know, I've also got a set of 4 OEM factory 8 lug steel 16" wheels off of my 2003 3/4 ton HD I would be willing to sell. I recently installed Alcoa's, and have the factory wheels in the garage. They have a chrome appearance to them. Later
