View Full Version : 1/4 mile in 4 wheel drive
Has anybody experienced any driveline problems running their truck in 4x4 for the 1/4 mile?

I wouldn't think you'd have any serious problems in just a quarter mile. I accidently drove my Toyota for about twenty miles on the highway in four wheel drive after working on it and installing the t-case shifter backward... Don't ask...
You can get binding, though, which will wear and possibly break u-joints depending on how badly it binds.

No problems... smile.gif It's not in 4WD long enough to create a lot of heat in the transfer case or front differential. The load is easily handled.

Only 5 runs but no problems at all, it is afterall a straight line and it sure beats spinning the tires for 3/4 second in 2wd.
4x4 and elocker engaged up front even.
You'll want to lower the t-bars all the way or you will have trouble with torque steer and probably break tie rods.

As I have an airlocker up front I can tell ya, JK is right about the torque steer and the tie rods but rods and ends can be beefed up via:
