Well I would say you can put just about any size tire on stock wheels, may take a little work, but seriously if you want to be safe about it and follow the manufactures recommendations you should be able to go up to a 265/75-16.

I am going up to a 285 tire on my truck and will be replacing the wheels with 8" wide wheels.

Also welcome to the board, you may also try using the search button at the top of the page and you will find many postings regarding this.

On our skinny rims, most TIRE companies don't want more than a 245. That said, the biggest tire you can put on to be within tire company realms is a 255/85, but no one that I know of makes those in an E. :( I run 235/85's on all my other trucks with no problems, so that's what will be going on my truck before winter.

Thanks for the help, With the 8 inch wheels and the 285 tires did you have to do anything to the truck? Did it mess with the computer?

A lot of people run 265/75/16 and 285/75/16 on the stock rims without problems. I've been running the 285's for over a year now, and haven't had any difficulties.

I have 295/75/16 BFG AT tires on my stock rims and did not trim the air dam. There is a slight rub on the driver side fenderwell but you can keep it out of the way with a plastic tie. You can not fit these tires with an 8" rim, but I have had mine on for 15K miles and other than the spedo being off I have no complaints. I also turned the torsion bar up to level the truck.

hope this helps
