OEM Wheels

I've always regretted getting the standard steel wheels and not the alloys but now I have to opportunity to get the alloys at a bargain of $125 a wheel. The problem is that I am concerned about the wheels being refurbished and I'm questioning the integrity. I'm maxing this truck out on weight limits. Any opinions?

If you are talking about the PYO option wheels, you can't really go wrong. Most of those wheels are manufactured by ALCOA, very tough wheel. I believe they are rated in the area of 3400 lbs load capacity, more than enough for a 2500HD. These wheels are forged not cast and of very high quality.

My neighbor has a brand new set of the alloys off his '02 GM 2500HD which I'm sure he'd sell for $125.ea.

Jeff, It would make sense to go new and be rid of doubt but shipping from CA to IN on four of those wheels might be as much as the wheels. How bad do you think he want's to sell?

I would think shipping would be around $20-30/wheel but I'll ask him tonight what he'll take.

Just a suggestion. I got screwed out off my pyo rims in 2001 so I ran the crome hubcap wheels for the winter. This spring I put on Alcoa classis 16X7's. They realy shine and I like the way they look. I got them from southwestwheel.com. I paid $109+$11 shiping each. Then I ordered lugnut covers and centercaps from alcoa.com. $1.09 per nut cover and $10. If you want I could e-mail you a picture this weekend. My brother just bought a digital camera so we will be playing with it. They are rated at 3400#.

I've seen the PY0 wheels for sale on Ebay at about $400/set and $40-50 for gnd shipping. They're takeoffs, so very low mileage, not refurb.

Just a note. When I first got my truck I put a set of ALCOA classics, from my previous truck, on to see how they would look: 1) looked great, 2) had a different back spacing -- pushed tires out of wheel wells & 3) have a larger hub opening than the stock tires. Not knocking the ALCOAs, just some personal information to consider.
