I took my trunk in today to have my wife's cold feet fixed. Also had a toasted battery, fixed. Dealer says no warranty on the foglight brackets...$85 each! WTF...it's not a blown bulb, the stupid plastic brackets got cold and came right off!

Good one GM...plastic brackets...someone in your lighting design dept deserves a dope slap!

Anyone know of an upgraded bracket ...or at least a part # for the brackets?

I "engineered" around my broken bracket. I removed the broken assembly and got the broken piece back in and put super glue on both sides and let it dry. I then put fender washers on top of the bracket, which were larger than the broken area. Tin snips cut them to fit in the detents. Finally, I got some 1/8" thick 1" wide Aluminum bar from the local Home Depot and made a brace that goes from the fender bolt to the adjustment knob on the bottom of the fog lights. I did mark the light level on the garage before I pulled the adjustment knobs off so I could re-align them after I got the straps on. Also, I would put a jack or something under the bumper or it rotates down and it almost impossible to get that darn bolt back in. A few choice words and the help of the wife got the first one and I put a jack on the other side, which helped a bunch. The end product was ten times more sturdy than the original. I also had a few choice words about making a bracket for and "HD" truck out of plastic and have it hang out there with no other support.
All total, I think I spend $6 bucks, but I did already have the washers. Took about 1-2 hours to fab the brackets and get everything just right.
I cannot take credit for this idea as Silver Bullet is the person I stole it from. Don't know if he stole it, but at least I can give credit back to him for showing me.
Hope this helps.

If you have a Chevy, and not the GMC, then I have a deal for you. smile.gif Mail me the $$ for shipping and I'll send you both of my old foglights! I took mine off when the truck was about 2-3 months old so I could install my PIAA airdam and some 7" round fog lights. I've got the factory original foglights sitting in my shed at this very moment.

Let me know if you want to do that.

Hey Formula,

This has been posted before. Dealership took care of my broken fog light under warranty. Said they had seen several like that (broken bracket). I was just under the 36000 miles. I would push the warranty issue if you are still under 36k.
