Steeltex A/T vs. Michelin M/S

Looking to replace my stock Firestones with a set of 265's. I would like to stay with a 10 ply rating and both of these tires offer it. I am not impressed with the mileage from the stock tires and am leaning toward the Michelins. But if people have had a different experience with the A/T's, I would like to hear. Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. smile.gif

DJMax,I myself will be replacing my stock tires sometime this fall and am leaning toward the michilins also.Kinda wondering what kind of mileage Id get compared to the stock tires that are on it.Hoping to see some one out there that has these on there truck & what there getting for mileage.Mine has got the Goodyears on it.Hammer smile.gif smile.gif

I have run both michelin LTX AT's ans Michelin LTX m/s's on my truck and both are superior to the offerings from goodyeas.... quality costs $$$$
also an honourable mention goes out to toyo for their M-55 hyper radial and the hankook z-36.
I do a lot of towing of 5th wheels.. both kingpin and gooseneck...let me see.... goose:featherlite 26'aluminium stock trailer.....30' flatdeck....

Kingpin..28' lynx (1985 vintage <heavy&gt ;) walk up travel trailer..... all tires work well and hold up to the abuse trailering places on the rubber

My little truck (see sig) has LTX M/S tires on it, and I'll tell you how long they last if I ever wear them out. 70,000 miles so far and they aren't even close to gone...more than half worn out I would say, but quite a ways above the wear indicators. I can't bring myself to just throw away the factory tires (Brigestone on mine), but as soon as they give me the slightest excuse I'll have LT265/75R16 Load Range E Michelin LTX M/Ss on the new truck.

Sold my last truck with Michelin LTX M/S tires, they had 91,000 miles on them (rotated & balanced every 7,000) and still looked like new. Got them at Costco, the installer there said he'd seen a set with 140,000 on them that still had more than 1/2 the tread left. Definitely an amazing tire!

I tried to find somewhere to trade my factory Bridgestones in for a set of Michelins, couldn't get more than $20 a tire with only 200 miles on them, they still had the new tire hairs on them too... So I'll wear them out and switch to Michelin!

My Father (tanker) and I both got sets of Michelins from a tire shop that were used take-offs from DODGE's. Mine are M/S, and his are (? the more streetier type??) A/S I think. Both are 265's and have extremely high load ratings 3415 for mine. I think I only paid $250 for all 4 to the Dodge owner about 5 years ago. They only had about 10K on them then. They seem to last FOREVER!!! When/IF its time for new ones, they WILL be the M/S for me! I never priced them new, but heard they were over $150 each.

I have the Steeltex A/Ts and they are holding up quite well. The bite is fair, and they are nice and quiet.

Michelins will last a long time, BUT trade off traction for mileage pure and simple.

Not sure what I'll do next time around.

Had YOKAHAMA, GEOLANDER on former 99 2500. Had a very aggressive tread. (E rated 10-ply) Great m/s tire.$105. ea. Very quiet on hwy. Will consider them this fall when I replace the Firestone's.

LTX AT's!!!! 107,000 miles on them! beat the crap out of them in corners and burn-outs and still had 3/32 or better left! I dont know if they come in 265s with a E rateing? mine where 245's
