Ok, I dont think I'm dreaming here but help me out. I believe that before I took my trunk into the dealer for major service that I had a GREEN light on the dash board instrument panel indicating they are on. Is this the case or not. I brought this up to the dealer and they advised me that there never was a green light there. I must be lost in the woods on this or im loosing it. The repairs that was done was Fuel pump/electrionics controler on the side of the engine and high pressure fuel line. Let me know all you 2001 duramax owners...

These trucks do not have a DRL indicator on the dash.

i am almost 100% positive that my pop's 99 1500 silverado had a little green light on the instrument panel when the drl's were on. now i do not see it either.. he says that he doesn't even remember there being one. could be that the bulb is burnt out?

My SO has a 1999 1500 Silverado - there is no indicator light on the dash for the DRL.

It might have indicated that your foglights are on.That is the way it goes on my wife's Tahoe.

Old body style trucks did have that indicator. Are you flashing back to another truck that you owned?

Are you confusing this with the green "CRUISE" indicator?

The old body style trucks (pre-1999 Silverado/Sierra 1500's, pre 2000 2500/3500's, pre 2000 Tahoe, Suburban) had a green DRL indicator, as others have indicated :D (Sorry, bad pun)......

'99 up new style trucks do not have any such indicator.

Ok maybe im wrong. However, if you look through the 2001 owner's manual it even shows you about the indicator being that it is semi round with 3 lines to the left of it. There is also a marker on the dash board. Can be well seen with a flash light pointing at the top left center showing were it is at. Again, I might be wrong, seeing things that dont exist or just plan dumb. Finally, there is a major differance between the cruise indicator and the day time running light indicator. The manual shows that.

There is a 4WD indicator in the instrument cluster also, but its not used/actuated by those trucks having electronic shift transfer case. Could it be just one of those detroit things? ~ odoh

You wouldn't be looking at the high beam indicator would you? It looks like you described it.

How about your refrigerator light. How do you know it's off when you close the door? There should be an indicator light or something, huh? ;)

I don't believe there is an indicator light for them.

I'm glad it doesn't have that indicator light ....... Most vehicles that have them don't have the automatic lights at dusk option ..... It's to tell people at night with the DRL indicator , "Hey your taillight's aren't on" .......

Hoot ....

Last time I asked the MUSTARD if the KETCHUP was lying about the MAYONNAISE being afraid of the dark ,,,,,,, His reply was "NOP," so it's lights out when the door is shut ........ tongue.gif

The new body style 1999 on up doe snot have the green DRL dash light since the DRL's are separate and don't illuminate as well as the reduced-power headlights used for DRL's on the C/K body style. Also, if you are in automatic light mode that pesky sensor will turn your lights on.
