I just installed a new receiver in my 02 Duramax and now I can't hear the On Star commands. Had to do it...the GM unit needs help. Does anyone have an idea on the wiring method of reconnecting the On Star module so I can use it if I want? My receiver will be using the RCA out puts and not speaker wires. Thanks

Arturo,

Billy14 made short mention of this in this post:

"If you have Onstar I've got a fix to get it working again with the aftermarket head unit."

Arturo & Others,

If you have Onstar & install any (supposedly) aftermarket stereo head unit, the Onstar can be up and running again with a plug in module I purchasedd from a dealer here in Tx.

Make sure you specify the year & probably manufacture date of your truck because there are TWO DIFFERENT protocols for the Onstar depending on when it was installed.

On Edit: By the way, it works great smile.gif just like the factory unit. Runs through the front speakers and mutes when activated. No loss in stereo sound quality at all.
