View Full Version : 03 Helms manuals
As was the case forever with the 02's, it seems Helms has no service manuals available for the 03's. Why don't these guys enter the 20th century (let alone 21st) and put them out on CD? Do they use chimps to type the things up individually or what?
GM? GM? Hello? ....

Actually the 2002's were available on CD when they weren't in hard copy. I think most people would rather have the book than the CD. I for one do not have a computer in my garage to read the "manual" as I am doing work on the truck. Plus the CD was more money because it covered multiple vehicles. Great for the dealer, not for the private owner.
How long did it take for Helms to get the 02's out? I called Helms a few weeks ago and they wouldn’t tell me when the 03's would be out but they did offer to mail me a post card when they were ready...

Don't wait for the postcard. I've had my manuals for about 2 months now and still haven't received that card.
Best thing to do is to visit the Helminc.com website about once a week and see if they are ready yet. Took 4 days from the time I ordered to get them.
It was probably 8 months into the production run of the trucks before the manuals were ready. If you saw the size of them you would understand why!!!
Thanks Larry... I'll take your advice and frequently check the helms site. I had a set for my 98 (4 volumes) and now I feel kind of lost with out a set for the new truck...
Does Helms do the typical thing and only make Chevrolet manuals, or do they actually have a separate section for the GMC only parts? (yes, I know that there aren't many...)
The 02 manuals were not available until around September 2002!!!
This is the email I got back from Helms:

What a bunch of crap - there were a LOT more changes from 2002 to 2003 then from '01 to '02. Why did they even bother making a 2002 manual then? Did they not make a 2001 manual?
Or does this guy not know his head from his @$$

Sheesh, and they wonder why people buy CD ROM burners.
Here's the latest after I emailed asking about any new 2003 information in their manuals -
