I have a slight noise coming from my transfer case shift lever. I thought all this time I had the windshield moulding noise, but I was wrong. I can put my hand on the lever while driving and the noise will go away. I looked in the manual and it recommends using an NLGI#2 *spray* grease on the shift linkage and lever. I went to Autozone and couldn't find a spray type of grease other than Lithium grease. I might run by the dealership and get the part number that is recommended in the manual. Also, has anyone else had this noise from the lever. Like I said, if I put my hand on it while driving it's completely quiet! The lever does seem to be a little loose in 2wd, but when in 4LO or 4HI it's firm.
Thanks in advance

I broke down and decided to use the same grease I use on the front end. It's NLGI2 rated so I figured it would be just as good. I might have also found the source of the noise. There was a Cross pen that had somehow fallen in the box that surrounds the shift lever!! But it was wedged so I doubt it was making the noise. I'll take the truck for a spin and see if the noise is still there.

Problem fixed!!
To the top for Bob E.
Hi 1BADDMAX, I contacted the dealer and the shop foreman said to bring it in tomorrow and he will spray all linkage points with a silicon grease. Will that work as as well as the grease you used? Thanks Bob E.
