I have an 01 2500HD D/A EC/LB. I have a two piece drive shaft. Am I elegible for the one piece shaft upgrade? Do I want one? Anybody know the pros and cons?

Good question. I have a 2002 3500 ZF. The dealer said I didn't need a one piece shaft, but I have a viberation from about 40 through 70 and it doesn't feel like a wheel. Could it be the driveshaft? And how can I convience the dealer that I do need a single piece?

Another concern, while under a light load, like idling up or down an incline, I can push the clutch in and will hear and feel a "thump" and the whole truck shakes. Simuliar to pulling the transmission out gear (without clutch) while under a load. Any takers?

Mike

^...The TSB describes which make of truck(s) fall within the scope of the TSB. The info you'll need is inside the door, near the latch. Also, the search tool will provide more info.

MaxACL I also have the ZF although mine is a 2500 CC long box, 2 piece drive shaft. I also notice the clunking when pushing the clutch in at slow speeds. I believe it***ut the drivetrain "relaxing" after pushing the clutch in. Never thought it was hurting anything. I'm pretty sure my CC long box is not elegible for the one piece. It would have to be a monster shaft.

NBT.. you are correct two times. The CC / LB is not eligible for the upgrade and the 1-piece shaft replacement part is a big-un.

Rusty...Pros are.... that it is a good improvement to have the shaft replaced. Cons.....stuck with a clunk and a shudder. I have had it done on mine and it's a good thAng.... :D

Short of talking to the clueless dealer, how do I find out if I am eligible?

Launch Shudder on Acceleration (Install New One-Piece Propeller Shaft) #01-04-17-001B

1999-2002 Chevrolet and GMC K2500/3500 Extended Cab Long Box and Crew Cab Short Box Pickup Models With Automatic Transmission

Affected models: K25953, K35953, K25743 (all with Allison transmission). Check the sticker inside your door. A 2500HD extended cab long bed should be a 25953. 4WD will be a K and 2WD will be a C, so as long as you have 4WD, your EC/LB truck is eligible.
