anybody know the part number?? Need to get one.
FYI... Dealer wants $600 to put it on!!!  Looks like SI2000 and myself have a meeting this weekend.
Alli,
Sorry I can't help you w/the P/N, but I do have a couple of questions. It is internal to the engine, right? I think this is the first I have heard of going south. How did it go bad? Can it leak, or is the flow just diminished? Is your truck running hot? Six bills doesn't sound unreasonable (can't believe I said that) from a dealer if they have to rip the front of the engine apart. Good luck!

yes, running hot after the fluid gets too low, but that is it (not thermostat). Took off the skid plate tonight and saw fluid everywhere. After filling it, I can EASILY squeeze the radiator hose, so I am not getting any pressure. I REALLY hope it is the water pump. A cracked block would be...and I am guessing here.... a little more than $600. ;)
Shouldn't there just be a rebuild kit for the pump???? It's gear driven ,you would think you could get a re-seal kit....It's just two big O-rings that is what the Helms shows......Lube internal with coolant ,external with motor erl prior to reinstalling......
MAC

I'm curious why you need to have the pump changed but, the GM part number is 97216136.
Alli-max,
How did the fluid get low in the first place?
How many miles on the truck?
