According to tirerack.com the BFG A/T's only have a 3 ply side wall, yet I see so many HD's and SuperDuty's wearing them. Is there something I'm missing? Does BFG offer a load range E A/T tire?

Look into the BFG Commercial T/A. I bought a set for my 99 dually - 10 ply. They have a similar tread to the All Terrain T/A's.

I noticed your other post where you mentioned that. You wouldn't happen to know if they com in 265's, would you?

Couldn't tell you. I'm not sure how many sizes they are available in, but I would consider putting them on one of the SRW if they are available as a 265 or 285.

Just put a set of BFG 265/75R-16, load range "E", "Commercials" on my Dmax. Bought em at Sams Club. Speedo is a little off but no big deal.

I just took off a set of BFG KO's from my truck. Rated as a "D" tire, but had a 3300 lbs tire rating at 65psi. Thats much better then the OE tires at 3050lbs at 80 psi. I substited them for some Michelin LTX M-S. Best decision I have ever made for tires....

Have you had a chance to try out the LTX M/S while plowing? (I'm guessing the lake effect has been there too this week.) I'm curious because thay seem like a nice riding tire, but not as aggressive as the LTX A/T. I've had those - they were great, but can't get them any bigger than a 265, and with 30% left are a b*tch on anything wet.

Interesting...I swapped the LTX M&S tires off my new Dodge for BFG ATs. The BFG AT KO is rated as a full blown snow tire. I have always found them to be excellent in the snow. I might not get as many miles out of the BFG but I sure like the traction.

I am also pretty sure that you are confusing tread plies with sidewall plies. The E's are 10 ply, D's are 8 ply and the 3ply sidewall of the BFG is one of the toughest out there.

For those of you that have use both A/T's and Commericals, how do the two compare in term of handling and traction?

The set of BFG Commercial ATs that I bought in August are load range E, 10 ply. They have proven to be exceptional in terms of traction. Handling seems to be on par, but is a little harder to tell as these are mounted on a dually. They do ride a little stiff compared to the last tire on there, which was a load range D. They now have about 10K miles on them, with minimal wear.

As for the BFG All-Terrain T/A, the set I had were great for traction and handling, but seemed to be a softer compound. I got about 35K miles on a set of 285/75/16s.

The M/S Michelins seem to grip as well if not better then the BFG's did for me, First snow of the season I plowed for 3 hours in 2wd, never did that with the BFG's..
