I was told by Shayne at Bilstien that you can order them at "Autozone". I called to check with my local "Zone", and they said they would have to call and order direct, but they send them overnight from Bilstien. The part numbers I got were for the 2500HD, I would assume similar for the 3500HD. I do know that the rear sets were shipped out from factory a few days after fronts, so I don't know if you will have a full set by the time you haul JK. Good luck...I will put them to the test when I get my set. :cool: :cool: :cool:

I just got off the line with Don at Don's Sport Vehicle Sales www.eshocks.com and he plans to bring in a bunch of the front shocks ASAP. The rears are in transit from Germany, and are expected later this month. I have bought all of my Bilsteins from Don...

The question is what? I did not mention $40 and I am not sure which truck you are talking about in terms of riding allright???
just got e-mail from shockwarehouse. The rears are out of stock :( guess i'm not getting them this week.
Hmmmm....JF I didn't get an e-mail from shock warehouse yet :rolleyes: Do you think all 4 shocks weigh 20 lbs total?
From what I am told, the fronts are in stock in the US (CA warehouse) and the rears will follow, by maybe 1 month.
Guys, be SURE you order the HO number. The non HO were previously released, and the subject of many complaints. Just weren't cut out for the HD series trucks. The HO series is the new and improved version...
Are these numbers for 4x4, 4x2 or both?

The BE56081K2HD and BE56082K2HD are the ones that I ordered from shockwarehouse. The guy on the phone said those #'s were something along the lines of an internal number for them at shock warehouse. The boxes that I received today are indeed the BE5-6081-H0 and BE5-6082-H0, both on the box ends and on the shock tubes. smile.gif

I spoke with Bilstein yesterday and the rear shocks have not left Germany yet and are not expected in the USA until June. Figure at least a 3-week boat ride from Germany. They did say to order your shocks now because the back-orders will be filled first.
Another thing I was told by Bilstein today is that the Rancho shocks are built by Gabriel shocks. The Bilstein rep also stated that they cost about 2 dollars to make. I am wondering to what degree of truth there is about this. I also plan on holding a Tech Seminar at Bilstein for my Impala Club in May. I should find out more information then.
Rancho is part of Tenneco automotive, the makers of Monroe shocks, not Gabriel.

To those of you who are waiting on your shocks to arrive, all I can say is it is definitely worth the wait. I put mine on today and it's a world of difference from the factory things they slap on there in place of real shocks. :D
I know I need new shocks on my 2002 HD but only because I have a new BIG camper. My 95 K2500 was my first vehicle where I never had to buy new shocks. The shocks lasted 110,000 miles while the 6.5, well never mind.
What can I expect from the Bilstien's as far as ride between loaded & unloaded?
Are the shocks adjustable?
How do the Bilstiens compare to other after market?

JEFSHP,your camper weight looks interesting. The sticker in my glove box says 1974lbs max recommended camper weight. How does the truck handle?
My glove box weight sticker says 2556 lbs.
The camper gross weight loaded sticker says 3445 lbs.
When I was looking at the campers at the RV show I pointed out to the dealer that I couldn't buy his camper because of the wt. sticker. Really wanting to make the sale on the already show reduced price, dealer said they would throw in the 1000# air lift bags. That's nice I said but I tow a horse or boat trailer too. Still wants to make the deal so he throws in the Super Hitch (with Tork Lift camper tie down system). I should have held out for shocks.
My last camper was a "4 Wheel" off road pop up camper that weighed 600# and topped out at 1.5 foot over the cab. New camper sits at 11" 7" from ground.
Handling was better with the "4 wheel". Actually the truck handles the new load very well. I brought it home from Portland across the Coastrange to Tillamook. Lots of curves & steep climbing. Engine had plenty of power (6.0).
The problems come at dips in the road where the rolling sets in. Just like being back at sea.
I use to laugh at the big campers doing that, now I are one.
Matching shocks to my load should tame that.

Does anybody know the part #s for the K3500 ?
Mine is a crew cab 4x4 the bilstien supplier here does not have a listing yet.Are they the same in front as a 2500 ?

OK, the official word, indirectly from Bilstein is that NONE of the new shocks for the rear are produced, in the country etc. Any that are located will NOT have the new valving specifications.
I ordered my fronts from eshocks, and will wait for the rears...

Im not questioning what yours say, only what they actually are. Earlier in this thread there was mention of a technical person at Bilstein. A call to him may answer this question...
As stated, I am told that there may be some with the correct part number of the OLD valving specs, but none of the new spec have hit The States yet according to what my source was told by Bilstein.
I guess if what you have works satisfactorily, it is a non issue. I just wanted people to know that if they scrounged to find some, they will be getting the old valving according to Bilstein.

One would think that in order to have the new part number sticker placed on the tubes and on the box would mean that one was getting parts of the new design. But, as you said, that may not necessarilly be the case. If they aren't the new valving, then I really can't complain as the ride and especially the handling are much improved.

I have installed the fronts Bilsteins and they definitely made a difference. The rears are on back order (as JK says). I am looking forward to big improvements when the get here. When I got the front shocks off and pushed on the rods they moved EASILY then tightened up and got jerky. Didn't inspire great faith in GM and the original shocks. I ordered the new Bs before testing the old 'cause I've been there before. STOCK GM SHOCKS SUCK and always have. Almost any good aftermarket is going to be a big improvement. Bilstein just makes an exceptional shock and gets it right for your particular application.

Just a few months ago many were talking about the Rancho 9000's I think. What happened? Are the Bilsteins better? has anyone actually used the others? I believe the others were adjustable.
Can anyone shed some light on this??

Sledzep, it's kinda like the oil preference thing. Rancho 9000s have been available for the DMax for a little while now. Some people are big fans of those shocks and they are 5-way adjustable. Some others are Bilstein fans. I personally loved the difference that the Bilsteins made in the ride and handling of my 99 6.5 TD Tahoe that I traded in my DMax and will wait for Bilsteins. They are non-adjustable, but they are true heavy duty shocks and built with superior materials and craftsmanship. smile.gif
Thanks, I will probably go with the Bill's since I do not feel a need for adjustability.
