View Full Version : TSB for 2003's Bright Light Indicator (being too bright)
#03-08-49-006 - (05/15/2003)
IP Cluster High Beam Indicator too Bright (Reprogram IPC)
2003 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2003 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
Condition
Some customers may comment that the IP cluster high beam indicator lamp is too bright.
Correction
To reduce the high beam indicator intensity level, reprogram the IPC with the service calibration that was available from Techline on the TIS2000 version 4.5 or later for 2003. This calibration is an electronic calibration and is not available from GMSPO.

Has anybody had this update done yet? How much dimmer is the high beam indicator?
Thanks

Thank you!! I just got back from a long trip and when using the high beams at dark it was almost harder to see the road with that high-beam indicator blinding me. That is rediculous. I'll be calling tomorrow to have it fixed.

Just got mine done! Took less than 30 minutes at the dealer.
Couldn't tell if it was dimmer though, it's still daylight!!
I'll try and check tonight and let everyone know.
Later....

The update definitely made a difference. While the indicator is still noticable, it's not the 'in-your-face' bright that it once was. Definitely worth the 1/2 hour at the dealer.
I can see clearly now, the blue glare is gone...
I can see all the speed bumps in my way...
Gone is the bright light that held be back...
Gonna be a nice, nice evening drive...
Later....

I wonder, will all 2003 trucks that go in for a re-flash to a newer version get the new "dimmer" high beam indicator?

I just had this reflash done at my dealer, I didn't notice any difference at all. But, then again, they didn't fix my service 4wd message or my power extending mirrors either.
Those of you that have had it done, is it a very noticable difference? I might take my Denali in and have it done to it as well.

very noticable for me, Dealer didnt know about it but I gave them the tech bulletin number and they said "Wow, wish they told us about this."
Now they are offering it to anyone with those vehicles.

I printed the information provided by txdoc and gave it to the service rep. The results are well worth the time spent. They were a little surprised that I had the dope on how to fix the bright light.
Tnx txdoc,
Jack
