I hate to have to ask this, but it has just enough truth to make it believable. I went to the parts store the other day to get windshield wipers that were on sale. The counter guy told me that I needed teflon coated blades for our trucks, and the ones on sale weren't teflon coated. If I put anything else on it would scratch the coating GM puts on the windshields.I would have to spend $15 per blade for teflon coated blades. Has anyone heard of anything like this. Needless to say I only bought the sale ones for my other car. I did a search and came up empty.
Sounds like baloney to me.
Teflon coated blades sound neat but I doubt they are required. If there is a coating (which I doubt) and it can't standup to a rubber blade what about bugs or an ice scraper?

More snake oil I'll bet. If there were a special coating on my windshield that could only be wiped with teflon I bet I removed it thousands of miles ago using steel wool to clean love bugs off ;) :D

Call a windshield glass dealer.

HOGWASH!!
Before you buy ask others if they work as claimed.
I have a set of silicon blades that do a fair job BUT if there is a very light mist or semi dry windshield that has to be constantly cleaned the blades chatter across the windshield.(blades are set correctly) it is very anoying.
the blades are 4 months old so they work just like any other blade.
good luck.

You'll only need the teflon as a lubricant when you turn around and bend over, because that's what those guys are trying to do to you! That's a total load of BS -- you don't need any "special" wiper blades. You should take your business to a reputable place.

DANG! I must have removed mine with a razor blade cleaning off Kamakazi bugs. Maybe that's why my Bosch replacements work just fine. tongue.gif Why not just make the blade out of solid Teflon? Doesn't Teflon mean it won't stick? So will it move the water, mud and bug guts off or just glide over them? Now, a Teflon coating for the windshield might be an idea. :D

Nothing in the owners manual or shop manual about special coatings or our trucks needing teflon coated blades. I would bet the parts store guy was just repeating an Urban legend that he heard. We have always used the Bosch blades and have been very happy with them.
