Rear spring slap......cheaper way to fix?

I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for.
I priced out the stock insulators and they are $5 a pop. The rubber piece that goes under it is $15 a pop. Thats $20 X 4 for $80 to get back to stock form. We know it doesn't because the fell out or broke off from the factory. So....I won't go that route.
The Rear Spring Slap or Clunk Noise #PI00347-(08/05/2002) says that part # 15604176 will fix this problem. The new isolators may require a rubber mallet to install them on to the ends of the spring. The price is $76 retail or $60 wholesale EACH!!!! - X 4 and thats $240 buckerooo's. I need a cheaper fix than that.

Anybody got one???????

gmpartsdirect has them for $37 each + shipping which is a little better but still pricey IMO. I would find an industrial supply store and try to find a big rubber O-ring that would work.

Yeah, like Michael said, just go down to the hardware store and get some O-rings from the plumbing dept. IIRC, the size needed is either 2

The plastic nylon piece with the nipple on it that goes in the hole in the spring holds the rubber in place. The rubber is between the spring and the nylon isolator.

Maverick , I took a one foot long piece of heavy wall nylon reinforced pvc tubing ,cut into 3 inch lengths and pounded em' on the ends until flush.
2 inch i.d. tubing is the right size. Mine had a wall thickness of about .215 inches. This stuff is known as "nylobraid" to some. Fits nice and tight, stops the noise, is cheap and has held up for 6 months so far.
Probably rubber radiator hose would work and would be black to boot, nylobraid is clear with white reinforcing.Good luck

Thanks saphauler and the rest of you. I ended up buying the stock inserts (isolators) for $3.41 each and cut up some old innertube and put that inbetween. We'll if it holds up. If not then I will try radiator hose. Thats a good idea.
