I talked to suncoast a few days ago. I told him that I had the 125 hp juice and wanted to make sure I was getting all my power to the ground. He suggested the shift kit, new converter and new c2 and c3 clutches. He told me that this would hold the 125 juice fine and I could additionally upgrade to the 145 juice if I wanted. It's 1700 for it, and I was wondering if anyone has it and could tell me what they thought. Is there something better to consider for similar or less money?

Jorday,

No problem, I'll transfer the topic to the 2500HD/3500 HD Trucks & Drivetrain forum.

The suncoast kit is the way to go. I mean check out all the options from others TTS, Quadzilla, ATS and then make a choice. Is a completly built tranny the best choice for hardcore performance? Yes.
But the stage I & II stuff from suncoast holds the power well up to a point, certainly will hold onto the 145 juice, actually I think the juice is a little harder to hang on to level for level than other boxes, Juice has more torque at lower RPM, I think this makes it easier to slip the tranny.

I know that juice watches for this and backs off but all else being equal the other boxes make power at the top end and this seems easier to deal with.

Anyway, yes the suncoast level I or II is a great setup, very similar to others on the market, no better cheaper way to get solid performance.

I basically want the transmission to have enough holding power so that the juice will never need to defuel based on transmission slip. Isn't the state 1 suncoast basically just a torqueconverter?

Jorday, the stage one IIRC ( I might be wrong) is just a Trans go kit and some new clutches. I do agree with the convertor any time you upgrade. That price is decent for the parts

As a thought you should contact ATS in Denver and talk to Clint. I had my transmission upgraded as well as the CoPilot installed and it now will spin thru 3 gears even with the 325 Nitto's on!

When I went to Denver to have ATS do the work personally I looked at the Sun Coast Torque Converter disassembled on a bench at ATS along with some of their clutches and to say that they are not as robust as the ATS parts would be a fair statement. How that translates in you situation is not clear as in my case I have added about 325 to 350hp and you are not having to deal with that much hp. If however, you are thinking about adding propane or other enhancements you would be well served to think this thru so you get the tranny modified once rather than piece meal as it can get expensive very quick.
