Placed an order earlier this week and the fronts are on B/O. I thought the rears were the hard ones to find? They said the shocks might be in at the end of the month. Kennedy,....you know them well there right? Tell them to put a rush on mine when they get in.
Maverick...I have an '02 3500 which I've modified the suspension to give a much smoother ride while retaining all hauling capacities...next suspension change will be adding Bilsteins...what model shock did you select for your truck? Any info you could give that would help me know what to order would be appreciated....thanks .... Jim

Me too, Mav. I ordered the rears on 7/24 and Don told me that when the rears finally arrived in volume that there was a shortage of the fronts. He initially told me two or three weeks, but I called yesterday and was told another three weeks to a month. Bummer, as I'm driving to San Antonio and back 9/8 to 9/17 and with the new rears I can really feel the front "pogoing"!
Ordered mine 8/18 and called yesterday to find out what is going on and was told the rears are in and now the fronts are on back order. Maybe the end of the month.

Same boat Mav...I ordered my Bilsteins on Monday...they said 3 - 4 weeks before fronts come in.
Boinger...boinger...these Boston roads (big dig) are killing me!

Oops! I did not read the post close enough. I ordered mine through Performance Products (I think).
Sounds like everyone is in the same boat.
The rears have helped tame the bouncing beast, hope the fronts help even more.

JEBar,
What kind of modifications have you made to your suspension?
Mark
MadDuraMax ... I recently had a leaf spring (the one that is just under five feet long) removed from each side and Air Lift's air springs with compressor installed ... lowered the rear of the truck about 1 inch and the ride, both loaded and empty, drastically improved, would rank it similiar to that of my '99 Z71...for those in this area, I can higly recommend We Do Trucks of Raleigh for their installation ... on line they can be found at wedotrucks.com, I deal with Ryan ... first trip towing very heavy 26' boat on 32' duel axel tralier of 600+ miles went extremely well...wife much happier with truck's ride which is a major plus ..... we plan to drive up for the get-together in Connecticutt late next month and are actually looking forward to the ride ... best way I know to express the difference is to say the Air Lift's did for my truck's ride what adding Juice did for the engine ... can't offer much in way of price info, had mine installed as part of a package price for installing several items, can say having an onboard compressor runs the price up but have no doubt that it is well worth it .... still have the stock shocks and hope to get them changed out prior to going up north ...Jim

the bilsteins are worth the wait ! i changed all 4 about a month ago and solved the front end bounce. got mine from performanceparts.
Has anyone received their backordered Bilsteins shocks from e-shock yet? I still have not heard a word from them. Just wondering!!!
Phoned in an order to e-shocks for front and rear Bilsteins for my 3500 this morning (9-3-02). Was told the rear ones would ship out today and a large order of front shocks was due to be shipped to them on 9-4-02. Said they should have them in about a week and would get them out ASAP.....Jim

Ordered mine from them on 8/5/02. Got the rears within a week. Was told the fronts would be two weeks later. It's been four weeks and I am still waiting on them. Last update was they would ship shortly after 9/4/02 (thats' tommorrow). I sure hope so. This should be the final piece of the puzzle in fixing the steering rattle.

I ordered front and rear Bilsteins from offroadwarehouse.com on 8-29 and received them on 9-3. I haven't installed them yet to offer an opinion, but at least I found someone that had them. Great service and very helpful on the phone.

Well, today is WED. I sure hope he sent them out today. Has anyone called today to see if they got shipped? Mine are are coming 2nd day air(good old Alaska-no UPS ground). It would be nice to get them on Sat.
Talked with them on 9/12...gave no indication the fronts are inhouse but said the order should be to me next week (mine being shipped by ground)...Jim
Talked to Paul 9-13, no front shocks in yet. Hopefully he said will be in next week and be shipped out. Boy is this getting old.
As I understand, the rears WERE the delay, but once in, they flew out the door with the fronts and depleted the inventory of fronts.
Thinking of calling Bilstein and seeing what it takes to buy in...

Just looked at offroadwarehouse. Looks like the fronts are the same on the 2500HD and 3500. The rears are different. I guess I will try to get my fronts from ORW. Maybe the rears too if they have them for a 3500. Didn't see a listing for it.
I received an email UPS tracking number today from Don (eshocks.com) - the package has to be the front Bilsteins :D since I got the rear Bilsteins the end of July...

Checked last night on my order from Performance Products and they are showing delivery of 11/7 for the fronts! I have already installed the backs.
Anybody got any better delivery dates elsewhere?

I emailed eshocks yesterday and he said my fronts are there but will not ship yet as he is waiting for my rear shocks to come in in a day or so. WTF!!!!!! I have 3500 shocks ordered and most of the orders that where filled were for 2500HD's. And I thought the fronts were the hold up.
Guess I'll never get shocks from this place again.
Maverick,
It appears to me that all these vendors are in a conspiracy against you ;) I placed my order on 07/23/02, so I've been waiting almost two months for the fronts...
I 'm not complaining since Don was completely upfront with me when I ordered - he told me I would have the rear shocks within a week, and the fronts were out of stock - he was at Bilstein's mercy as far as when they would come in and no solid ETA.
Not to rub it in tongue.gif but my front Bilsteins BE5-6081-HO just arrived via the big brown truck, and I hope to get them on tonight :D :D

Got all four shocks today from Don's and the big brown truck. Hope to get them on this weekend. :D :D Kick the Tires and Light the Fire!!
front shocks ordered 9-3-02 from e-shocks arrived today .... no word on rear .... just looked at their web page, price has gone up $5 per shock since I placed my order .... Jim

My fronts got here today in the big brown truck (got the rears a month ago). Got 'em on the truck before dark. They are great. I don't think it's Don's fault for the delays - just too much demand.
I got the front Bilsteins's on late last night and they make a HUGE improvement, highly recommended and worth the wait :D I had to double check that there was enough air in those BIG WHEELS...

I know its not Don's fault but he could have told me the rears where out of stock also and not just the fronts when he emailed me back. Anybody get their 3500 rear shocks yet? No big brown today. :(
Speaking of the BIG BROWN TRUCK.....how much you wanna bet that Dale drives a race prepped one after the last race this year. There is just way to much hipe for him NOT to do this.
Fronts installed ... first trip (approximately 375 miles)with 50% empty and 50% hauling a couple of thousand pounds in the bed, noticed a significiant reduction in front end bounce .... am now even more anxious for the rear ones to get here... Jim

Got them on. Didn't take long with the impact gun. It does ride better although not as good as I was hoping.

Maverick,
I got my fronts in today, did you take the front tires off to put the shocks on, or could you work around them?
I will be working WITHOUT an impact wrench and crawling on the floor of my garage.
Thanks
Maverick

Did not have to pull the tires. Work from the back side (between the door and the wheel). When doing the right side, turn the wheel all the way left to get access. When doing the left, turn the wheel all the way to the right to gain access. The stock shocks unbolt easily although you will need to hold the shaft at the top while taking the top nut off. I put the new shock in and tightened the top down to spec. I then had to jack the truck up by the frame to get the bottom bolt in. It will line up. You cannot compress the front shock to get the bolt in. Its pretty stiff so that why I needed the jack. The rears are even easier and you can compress the rears to get the holes to line up. No jack needed. Have fun.
I did haul a 02' 2500HD ext cab, an 99 1500 ext cab, and a 00' Surburban today. It was a tight fit on the trailer but no problem. The shocks did help very much over stock. I ran across the scale and weighed out as follows:
Steer-----4,380 lbs
Drives----9,480 lbs
Trailer--17,720 lbs
GVW------31,580 lbs
Now thats a load. No problem for a DURAMAX!!!!! :D
