View Full Version : Anouther GM Surprise
Went to the dealer for a rear seal replacement & when I was there the service manager told me to go over to the body shop cause they had a question for me.When I went there the guy asked me if my marker lights ever leaked & I told him yes just once when I was in Fl.He then told me to bring the truck back the next week for they were going to replace all the marker lights on the cab & reseal them with a special material. He said he seen me drive in for the seal replacement & called the truck shop to see if I knew something about the marker lights leaking. So,next week new marker lights & sealent to boot. The rear seal is the first thing thats bene replaced on the truck since new.28,000 on it now.Otherwise its never bene touched other then regular maint.Hammer smile.gif smile.gif

My roof marker lights leak too. I was in a heavy hard driving rain most of the day and the next morning when I went to back the truck out of the garage and started to pull forward to go where ever I was headed, a steady steam of water poured out of my small overhead console but I had never noticed any water until then. This post reminded me that I need to get it by the dealership and get this taken care of.
Timberline,If ya take it in they will fix the marker lights. They must be aware of these leaking otherwise they wouldnt of confronted me.The guy told me they have to put new ones on for the old ones cannot be sealed.Thats why I have to wait a week for them to order them.Next Mon. if they come in there going to swap them out.Hammer, smile.gif smile.gif

This was an issue when I picked up my 2002 2500HD about a year ago. There is a bulletin about the problem, but I don't have it in my files. I asked the KY dealer to correct the problem before they delivered my truck. They said they checked it and found no problem. I was in FL when I encountered the first rain. The roof marker lights leaked and the local FL dealer corrected the problem. I thought they only replaced the seal and not the lamps.
How about the ONSTAR antenna cap, is that included in the replacement deal??? I have noticed the newer trucks ( newer than DEC. 2001) have a base cap 3 times larger on the newer antenna than the one I have.
thanks for any reply,
