View Full Version : Transmission sensor going out in mud?

Has any body had the transmission sensor go out in mud? My cosine said his went out three times in muddy conditions. Is so how do you fix it? He has a 2001 D/A combo.

Could be the NBSU switch. GM uses a black one that's subject to water damage. The latest one from Allison is Brown. Search on NBSU for more info. Here is one of the threads:

I believe the acronym is NSBU - Neutral Safety Backup Switch

Part Number 29540479 at your friendly Allison repair shop for around $50.

Look for a recent (last 6 months) post by dmaxallitech with instructions on how to replace.

Took the old one apart. All corroded from the salt on winter roads..... and I live in Albuquerque (spend a lot of time on I25 to Colorado, though).
