I've got the regular Juice. I know that you get de-fueling during shifts and when the TC locks up. How can you tell if/when the Allison is slipping? What are the symptons? When I run WOT from a stop in level 4 (90 hp), seems like the Alli doesn't shift nearly as firm as it does when I run up to only 2100 rpms with a lighter foot. It feels more like a slip into gear than a slam into gear. When shifting at 2100 rpms it shifts very firmly. Just wondering if I'm getting a little slippage. It never has gone into limp mode and the SES light never comes on.
Certaily don't want to take it to the dealer and say "I've got the Juice and I think I'm causing the tranny to slip". ;)

Yes you are getting slip, they all do, they have to. I'm not trying to be a smart aleck but what you mean I think is are you getting excessive slip, enough to damage the tranny. If you hammer it a lot then the answer is yes. Even pure stock your tranny has a life limit that is caused by clutch slip, add more power and it may slip more.
The best thing to do in my opinion is to pick a power level and stay there, let the ally learn that power level to minimize slip. It dosen't hurt to stay in level 4 all of the time, it dosen't add any additional heat (power) unless you do with your left foot.
I'm not saying that the Ally is not an excellent piece of equipment and won't last a long time, just I think that if you pick a power level and stay there it'll be happier.

Well a64,
It's ok, that comes with experience does it not?
May be that Chris has yet to meet with what is referred to as AutoRotation whereby ones brain wave must flow forward, backward, upward & downward while somehow remaining in neutral without fail nor falter! :(
Now if I can just turn the collective loose long enough to type this with my only left hand.....
But I am watching what you & others are saying abt the allison slippage with power comps that will apply to us in our work with the Dmax.
For it to slip at light weight with just small pwr increases gets my attention & will persue the issue with the allison people here at jax.
We're planning 265, maybe 285 tires but with just this added torque & heavy loads, what? Wouldn't a split between 3.73 & 4.10 like 3.90 be nice?

Thanx, Gben

Gben,
Well at least somebody understands :D
We've gotten used to massive increases in power inherint in this engine / fuel system. I think the moderate increase of the 90hp juice is really about a 40% or so increase in power, maybe more as I hear that Edge is conservative in their power claims.
In my book that's huge! I know much more is avialable, but let's put that in perspective. In comparison my old 93 Z28 is capable of about a 50% increase in power with the Venom N02 system I'm using. That's the fuel systems max output, but that's OK as much more and I'll blow the crank out of it anyway. Even at that level the 4l60 tranny won't hold overdrive and I can only use it for about 10 sec or so.
Some people are reporting almost 100% increase in power and haven't changed a single part to get there. Admittedly I not real experienced in this, but I've never heard of being able to double the power output in anything without changing some kind of part
It's a great time to be a gearhead in America in my book. I don't care what you pick, motorcycle, car or truck their faster than any time in history and we all are looking foward to the next model and expecting more.

Guys! It seems like this "a64pilot" fella likes gadgets too much! You would best advised to get professional assistance with your transmission shifting issue. A little $ spent at a dealership will be worth it!!
