Looking at several used 2500hd's.....did GM use any automatic transmission other than the Allison in 2002 and later models. Sorry if this is a repeat ?, tried search, I'm not smart enough to use it I guess.

The 4L80E/4L85E was used on the 2500HD and 3500 equipped with a 6.0L gasser (same powertrain as a 2500 non-HD). The 8.1L gasser, and Duramax all have the Allison for auto's. A 5 speed manual is available with the 6.0L, and a 6 speed manual is available for the 8.1L and Duramax.
Powertrain options have not changed from 2001 to current, other than upgrades to existing components.
