Opinions On Rancho RS5000 shocks needed

Hi I am looking at putting a new set of shocks on my truck '93 Chev 4x4 K2500 I know the consensus on the board seems to be with bilsteins and I have no doubt they arent superior shocks however the are not available in Canada and from Kennedy with tax+shipping+customs and conversion im looking at around $115 to $120 per shock. In Canada my local Canadian Tire has a 20% deal on Monroe OEM,Monroe Reflex and Rancho RS5000 seeing that they are a little more in check for price I am leaning towards that way but I would like to hear some positives and or negatives about them thanks

The Ranchos are tough long lasting shock. That has been my experiance.

the 5000 is a good heavy duty shock, I'm running pro-comp 9000's which are identical but a little cheaper from summit

I prefer the Rs9000 because you can adjust them depending upon the load and ambient temperature for the best ride and handling. worth the extra, IMO

I have used both the RS9000 and the RS5000. I will never use the RS5000 again. The quality of construction is fine but the ride is harsh due to the "one size" fits all approach with the valve. I currently use the RS9000 and am happy with it. The adjustability is interesting but once I have it set I leave it.

Keep in mind my experience is on my Jeep and it weighs ~4100lbs with gear and is used mostly off road.

A friend of mine just put the edlebrock IAS shocks on his 97 extended cab 1500 and is very happy with them.

Check with www.4wheelparts.com (http://www.4wheelparts.com) they have a low price guarantee and will honor it. I typically shop using a google search then get 4 wheel parts to price match.

thanks for your responses..no doubt there are deals to be had..but im trying to stay within canada when making these purchases..price is evetually less..i would have liked to have gone for rancho 9000 adjustables..but the sale at the local store didnt cover 9000 series.

I am not a fan of the 5000's. The compression is a little soft for a 3/4 ton truck. I ran them for a few months then scrapped them for the 9000's. I ran them on 5 the whole time. Not a smooth ride but a tight controlled ride, like a truck.
I run the Bilstiens on my current truck but they are no different than the 9000's.

Anyone know the size of the mounting bolts both front to back for the shocks..11/16 is working for the bolts but is it the same for the bolt..bolt in the front seems to be slightly larger then 11/16 just wondering what the sizes are supposed to be
