Does the overdrive/lockout keep the truck in 5th gear and eliminate all the downshifting or what does it do. Thanks in advance...

Yes, that is the highest gear change avail.....But if you were to push the momentary switch it will shift into Over Drive....

The tranny will act as normal just it won't shift to over drive as it would normally do, but like I said it's back with a push to the button or switch, any time, as it is temporary and your option when you elect to use or not.....

I had the update done back in the summer(july02) but i didn't see to much difference in the downshifting all the time.

DURA-MAX3,

Give me more details..

Towing, if so>> what is the total weight?

How fast are you driving when it downshifts?

More Info Please?

If you set Cruise on 55 mph then Mash the throttle to the floor, how many seconds does it take to downshift into 4th?

I'm having the OD lockout switch installed and the dealer service
manager called and left a message on the answser machine.
The parts are in!

Since this is the dealer's first OD lockout switch install I thought

You would have to be traveling pretty fast on wet pavement during deployment to have any trouble. Only time I use mine is to lock 4th on long uphill grades as the Juice wants to hold 5th too long and things get hot. Also I use it on steep downgrades at times to get more braking and pressure out of the exhaust brake.
