Allison whine

Transmission makes a whining noise until warmed up.Never did it until about 1500 miles back.Truck has 23,000 miles on it now and tranny temps have always been normal and have not had to add fluid.Changed filter at 5,000 miles as done by many members here on the forum.This noise is not the cooling fan.Did a search on the forum but did not come uo with any thing definitive.

saywhat--Mine has made a whining noise when it is cold from day one. At first I thought it was the fan doing it in the mornings, but finally figured out it was the tranny and after it warmed up the whine would go away. I think someone told me it was the pumps in the tranny that was doing it and not to worry about it, that it was normal. 28,000 and still whining in the morning and running as smooth a ever.
