I just got off the phone with a seasoned body shop owner that is selling a 6.5/4L80E combo out of a wrecked 1-ton 2WD. (Ebay item from earlier post of mine.)
He stated that the only difference between the 2WD and 4WD version is the tailshaft - and that I could swap mine (1994 4WD) onto the new transmission (1997 2WD).
Comments as to the accuracy of his claim?

Yeah,i just saw that item on ebay.I was about to tell you about it,but it looks like you found it out for yourself. smile.gif As for the tailshaft,it's most likely true. But i'm not 100% sure, but the guy could be right.Hopefully somebody will come along and verify that for you.Good luck budd.
96 or 97 they changed some of the electrical plugs, so your 94 might be different. Supposedly the trans cooler line location changed also, better call somebody that would know.

I believe it was in '97 that they relocated the cooler line ports on the tranny housing, and went with a larger cooler line.
Would there be differences in the PCM controls? Looking at an upgrade / 're-flash'? Hmmm, yours is a base '94 tho' right?
'94 is a chip - 'Somebody" probably makes an upgrade chip.
