Was crusing down the road today at about 55 in OD and the truck starts whining all of the sudden. It starts in at about 1500rpm and gets louder,I mean easily hear over the radio loud. When it shifts, it quiets back down until 1500 again and it gets louder from there. It does it in park, but seems to be louder when in gear. It sounds like its coming from the back of the motor, front of tranny area. It is a low pitched, but loud whine, never heard anything like it before. Anybody ever had this???? Thanks

Sounds like front pump or torque converter issues, or other issues that could let air into the front pump (bad filter seal, cracked filter, etc).

Still under warranty?

Check the fluid level in the transmission.

The tranny is stock, it is under a Diamler Chrysler warranty(bought it from a Dodge dealer, so anything wrong should be covered.

Checked the tranny fluid, looks good and is full. I had my dad listen to it and he says its the turbo, that would make sense why it is louder while in gear than in park. It doesn sound like it is coming from the turbo area. I also pulled the serpentine belt to make sure it wasnt a pulley and it made no difference, so I am thinking the turbo went south on me now. :(
