I'am the pround new owner of a 2003 GMC SLE CC S/B D/A 4X4  So far the truck has been excellent! I was wondering if there was suppose to be a supplement owners manual for the Allison. There really isnt much info on it in the regular manual. :D

I purchased a pretty good Tech Training manual specifically for the Allison from these folks:

Automatic Transmission Service Group (http://www.atsgmiami.com/)

Think it was about $25 or so? Definately worth it.

Just noticed your sig while posting. I had an '01 just like yours. Called it the "screamer".

You can also get some good info from the Allison (http://www.allisontransmission.com) website. IIRC the Allison 1000 series operator’s manual (PDF) can be downloaded free of charge (you have to pay for the service manuals).

The 5-volume set of GM Service manuals from Helms (http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r=) also contains a section on the Allison. smile.gif

I agree with jbplock...they're well worth it. When I was hooking up my trailer brake harness, I accidently shorted out the 12V wire and blew a fuse. Without the manual, it would have taken me forever to find out which ones had anything to do with trailing. It's a good purchase.
