Well I finally got around to lubing my
truck. In doing a search I found there
has been some trouble in finding all 11
zerk fittings on the 3500 and 2500 trucks,
so I took pictures if anyone needs help

http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=1301823&uid=469559

There are 11 fittings on the trucks and I
numbered the 11 photos accordingly.

2 - Upper ball joints (picture 1 & 2)
2 - Lower ball joints (picture 3 & 4)
2 - Outer tie rod ends (picture 5 & 6)
2 - Inner tie rod ends (picture 7 & 8)
2 - Idler arm (one on top and one on the ball joint) (picture 9 & 10)
1 - Pittman arm (picture 11)

It is easy to miss one of the two on the idler arm assembly :D

56Nomad,

Thanks for nicely documenting all the lube points!
On my 98 you had to drop a cover to get to the idler arm. Is that still the case? Looks like the cover is the same on the 2003. I also put covers on all the fittings on my 98 and will do the same on the new truck

Hi all,

To take picture #10, the Upper Idler Arm Zerk,
I removed the front plastic mud shield (R&R 5 bolts) to access this zerk and then take this picture.

Because of the hard to reach locations of
some of the zerks, my camera could not be
located or placed to actually photograph the
zerk fittings. But some of the photos will show
the suspension/steering parts where they are
lube points are located.

None of the fittings on my truck have covers yet.

For anyone who changes their own oil.... the lube job
is a no brainer and not difficult once you figger
out where the 11th zerk is :D :D

56nomad,

thanks for the work you did. I should have sent you the $120.00 I spent on the Hemi service manuals. I would have figured they would be in there but I have not come across them in the 5 volumes I received.

Dmaxin, Check out this link:

http://forum.62-65-dieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=002634&p=

There is quite a discussion about grease zerks and various hand operated grease guns.

Best Wishes,

I use a air grease gun. I also change 5 zerks
to 90'S which life alot easier. But cannot tell
you which ones. But are the 5 hardest ones to
get to.

Thanks, I found them. I thouight they were the "ungreasable" type as they appear to be capped where a zerk would normally go. I actually found # 11 on my own!
If anyone wants to know where the lower ball joint ones are,,,,,, Crank the wheels all the way to the right, and look from above and behind the left wheel. reverse and repeat for the right wheel.
