There is a TSB available that describes how the dealer can reduce the brightness of the instrument panel cluster 'high beam indicator lamp'. Is there a TSB that can be used to reduce the sound level of the warning chime? It nearly drives my wife berserk when we go to the Post Office to collect the mail. This happens if I leave the keys in the 'ignition' (can't call it that if the engine is a diesel), then open the truck door to get out.

I've been searching since I've got my truck for a way to calm down that $%^@##$ chime. It's two settings are "loud" and "ear busting loud"

You can either unplug it or wrap some tape around it to quiten it down if you just want to quiten it. Low tech to be sure but it should work.

You can remove the pin on the connector for the chime you don't want. I plan on removing the one for key in ignition but leave the one for the headlights.

I MAY be wrong but I think the chimes on my '03 now come through the speakers. This MAY be why they are so loud.

Yep - the '03 trucks have totally different wiring than the 2001-2002 trucks.
