My truck has 3000 miles on it now. 500 of that towing. This weekend I need to change rear lube. What is the recommendation from you guys?
By the way the Dura is going to Edge today for some testing. So those of us that are experiencing the "FISH BITE". We will get it fixed. Maybe will get some dyno numbers also.
I've got about the same mileage on my truck, also. I'm going to use Mobil-1 75-90 synthetic. I got it at Auto Zone for $4.99/qt. It is supposed to take 4 qts. No modifier, etc, is added-straight from the bottle using a pump and hose from Wal-Mart that connects to the bottle--same one that I use to change fluid on my outboard motor.
Mobile 1 is what it ships with. AmsOil (what I use) also makes a great gear lube.

The new HD's ('01 and up) ship from GM with Texaco super secret formula that can only be had through the dealer, with the GM label. Search the forum. The subject of "which lube meets GM's spec's" has been beat to death.
Topic moved to 2500HD/3500 HD Trucks & Drivetrain Forum.

I went with the Mag-Hytec rear end cover and the lube from Lube Engineers Inc.
The cover is top-notch.
The lube is 607 Almasol ISO VG 220 / SAE 90
followed by a ton of "certified" numbers and letters including LMNOP.
I would never use a lube that wasn't LMNOP certified.

Since we're reviewing this subject again, does anyone know if any of the gear lube producers have actually gotten their product certified to the GM spec?
