I will be picking up my 03 2500HD D\A next week and the dealer is willing to make a deal with me on tires, the truck as you know comes with the 245 Bridgestones but I want to put on a 265 tire.

I'm looking for opinions on these 2 tire choices or other recommendations...........

Michelin LTX M\S 265\75\16 load range E (3415 lbs)
Bridgestone A\T Revo 265\75\16 load range E (3415 lbs)

The Michelins are $150 and the Bridgestones are $136 (price is not really important as I want the best tire)

I will have about 5700 lbs rear axle weight on the truck with my car hauler, any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hi steve

you will be much happier with the michelins overall.

they ride better. they are quieter. they handle better. they will last longer, i bet. (although the revos have a tread life guarantee and may be better in the mud or snow)

there is a reason that the michelins cost more. they are a better tire. i switched to michelins a few years ago and have not gone back.

i had a set of load range c on my 99 2500 that i transfered to my 01 2500hd and between the 2 trucks got nearly 70k miles on them. and i drive with a heavy right foot and treat my truck like a sports car in the corners. and plow snow (when there is any, anyway).

i put a set of load range e's on my 01 2500hd early this year and have 37k on them. they will be going on my new 03 and look to have maybe another 20-30k on them left.

i should mention that they are mounted on 16x8" wheels.

I guess there won't be any issues about tire size if you have any shifting problems. Lucky you.

No Problems with this dealer smile.gif

A very small "home town" dealership, I have known everyone there for years and they have sold a few Duramaxs, the lead mechanic even drives a Duramax for his personal truck.

I have already asked about reprogramming for the 265s and they tell me "no problem"

I installed a set of Michelin LTX M\S 265\75\16 load range E tires on Sept 28th and just arrived home from a 7,000 mile trip to Florida and back pulling a 30' fifth. Tires were great. Had ice in Knasas and ice and a little snow in Colorado. I measured the tread new and again yeaterday after the trip. There is maybe 1/32" less. I ran 70 in the back and 55 in the front.

go for the michelin's...fiance's dad has them on his '97 cummins long bed ex cab 4wd. he gets about 65,000 miles out of them and they are quiet and good looking, he is due for another set and we found some cheaper 265's and he made it very clear that he would only have the michelins, and i tend to agree. i would run michelin's but they did not have a 295/75/16. :(

cahnging your speedo for these tires is not necessary unless you want the over optimistic stock reading on your odometer and speedometer.

the 265s make the speedo on my truck right on according to johnny law. don't ask how i know!

If youre still interested. Im running a 265 Firestone ATX. They work great so far. $135 for the tire plus install.
