It just got a little cool here (17F) and no heat would come from the heater, as a matter of fact the heat guage never left the peg. Called the dealer and was told there is a problem with the 2003 thermostates (like they stick open) and guess what, they don't have any. Back to the fur coat and muklucks until they arrive.

Put a generator in the back or get a power invertor and run the engine heater while driving?
If the heat gauge does not leave the peg I would certainly not drive the truck until it is repaired. Running the engine cold for extended periods is probably one of the worst things you can do to it.

Wow. Seriously? Absolutely no heat indicating on the gauge at all? It's hitting -5C here at night and sure, if the truck's empty I can drive half way across town (small town...) without budging the needle on the heat gauge. The truck cab will, however, start warming up after 4-5 minutes. Keep in mind this is at very light engine load, nothing more than 1500RPM. It's a much better warm-up with 4500# weight in the box, though.
If you could, please follow up with yer dealer about what they're doing to correct the problem. Replacing thermostats with improved version? Heat rating?
Good luck and Thanks. Norm.
