Hey I have a question????
I have a 02 CC and I have a small pod next to the heater controls where the air bag switch would be. Is it because I have a CC and not a EXTCB that there is no provision for shutting it off??
Does it make a difference if you have buckets or bench seats??
Anyone got the answer??

Thanks in advance :D

GMC DMAX,
The cutoff switch is not required in the crew cab, so they don't put it in :(
They figure that if you have back seats, the kids go there - so no need for the switch. Doesn't matter if you have buckets or bench seat. They replace the switch pod with a cubby-hole.
Hope this answers your question.

Infant seats and airbags really do not mix.
ya, but we add the switch to shut ours off , it might us some money if we ever crash

My wife asked why it would have to be turned off (kid rides in the back). I told her it would depend on how much I liked her at the time... :D
...SHE didn't think it was a bit funny

The ext cabs have the switch.
Anyone know the part # for the cubby hole? I would like to order one for above the switch.
Fred,
If you have collision insurance you will not save anything in a collision by having the airbag turned off unless your deductible is way up there. Your insurance will pay for everything above the deductible. Two air bags replaced is about $1400 here locally. Sometimes that cost along with the other damage is enough to put the collision cost into the totaled class.
You may in fact not collect as much in an injury liability case if you have it turned off (unless off for infant). Also, if it gets down to a court case, you must use all your seat belts that are provided with the vehicle and your head rests must be properly set for the person in the seats. Defedants position (or passenger in your vehicle)would be you did not use all the safety devices available and injury was exacerbated by your neglect.
Hope this makes you feel better. I enjoy driving so much more knowing there is a loaded explosive bag pointed at my face.

Has anyone installed the air bag switch in a CC? I have a 12 year old son and my wife has a fit when he rides in front. If I could install the switch, it would resolve the problem. I feel like a chaufer when just he and I go somewhere.
Thanks,

anybody got a shop manual, or took the dash apart yet to check if theres a connecter we can plug into too
I turned my airbag switch to off, But she still didn't shut up
I have a CrewCab as well and often wondered why I didn't have the switch. This place is great. You can get answers to everything.
Thanks, Scott
Anyone have the part # for this storage hole that replaces the Airbag and onstar buttons on CC's?
I wan't to set my airbag switch and move it out of the way for the storage hole.

MaxRock - I asked my favorite service guy at Reliable today about adding the on/off switch...he said would cost $$$ and mentioned something about having to get a letter from Austin before the dealer would add it...I stopped digging for info at that point.
on edit...
Chane,
Don't know the part number for the cubby hole, but I have one collecting dust since I have gone in with the 4-pod housing for my switches...what is it worth to ya? smile.gif smbrown819@yahoo.com

chane,
I thought I had that storage compartment part # but I could not find it. I'll likely be messing with the dash this weekend and will try and remember to write down the number for you.
I say its worth about $5 bucks.. How much to ship?
GMPD got back w/the part #'s.
15766229 compartment
15756881 mat
Also go these:
12564257 cover
12564258 cover
For the Red Corvette Z06 engine covers. Not sure if they will fit the 8.1's, but I'm sure they would go on the 6.0's w/a little modification.
Thanks for the input Silver Bullet! Hey, you and I are in the same neighborhood. I work in Plano and I see you live is Sachse. We need to get together and discuss...TRUCKS!!! ;)
You have some interesting mods that I would like to discuss with you.
